FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

Your Questions Answered

HOW DO I BOOK AN APPOINTMENT?

Please message us via email or our social media pages for enquiries and bookings. Alternatively, fill out a contact form via our website and we will get back to you. We offer a complimentary 5-minute telephone consultation which can be arranged on request.

WHAT CONDITIONS DO YOU TREAT?

We offer treatment for a wide range of Women's Health and Musculoskeletal conditions. We specialise in pregnancy, post-natal, pelvic health conditions across all stages of life, as well as musculoskeletal pain, sports injuries and post-surgical recovery. Click here for more information around conditions and services we offer.

WHAT IS A MUMMY MOT?

A Mummy MOT is a comprehensive post-natal assessment available from 6 weeks to 6 years+ after having a baby. The 1 hour assessment will give you the opportunity to tell your birth story, any concerns you might have and what you are aiming to get back to. You will have full postural and functional screen, abdominal muscle assessment, as well as an optional vaginal exam to check how your pelvic floor muscles are recovering from childbirth. If you had a c-section or an episiotomy/tear this will also be examined for healing. We will then create a personalised treatment plan based on the assessment and send you a report of findings with recommendations.

WHAT DOES A WOMEN'S HEALTH APPOINTMENT INVOLVE?

During your Women's Health appointment, you will be asked detailed questions around your symptoms and general health and lifestyle. Questions may be around sensitive topics such as your pregnancy history, bladder and bowel habits and sexual concerns, however you do not need to disclose anything you are not comfortable with. You will have a full assessment which may include an optional vaginal examination. We will then discuss your management options and create a personalised treatment plan to get you back to living your life with confidence.

WHAT SHOULD I WEAR TO MY APPOINTMENT?

You may be asked to expose the part of your body you are attending for treatment, so please come to your appointment wearing comfortable clothing that you can remove and are able to move easily in. We recommend wearing a sport bra and shorts if you are attending for a Mummy MOT for ease of assessment.

DO I NEED A DOCTOR’S REFERRAL?

No - we also accept self-referrals at Cathedral View Physiotherapy and offer a complimentary 5-minute telephone consultation to discuss how we can best support you. However if you have been recommended to see a Women's Health specialist by your GP or consultant, we recommend you bring any letters from them with you to your first appointment.

HOW DO I MAKE PAYMENT?

Payments can be made via card, Apple Pay or cash on the day of your appointment. We kindly request a £20 deposit to secure all bookings which is payable via bank transfer ahead of your appointment. This will be deducted from the cost of your appointment on the day. For further information, please see our deposit policy.
